The Council of Agriculture in Taiwan announced that it will set into motion three major certifying criteria, namely, Traceability Agricultural Product (TAP), Organic Traceability Agricultural Product (OTAP) and Quality Traceability Agricultural Product (UTAP), starting from today (June 14, 2007). It plans to integrate all certifying criteria currently used in the market into these three major certifying criteria by 2010 and advance the policy of safety agriculture on all fronts. The certifying criteria including product name, package date, traceability number, traceability website and 2D barcode on the label. This label is the production and sales record which can be scanned using a camera mobile phone with decoder. You may also enter the traceability number at Taiwan Agriculture and Food Traceability System TAFT website and the production record of a product will be displayed. It is enable consumers to judge by the 2D barcode and trace the production and marketing process of a certain product to ensure product safety.
