Q+ (pronounced "Q plus") for iPhone is an external close up lens for enhancing the iPhone's camera lens capability for viewing small barcodes on close range.


Since a generic macro lens could achieve different results for different phones (due to varying camera lens capability), we decided to build the lens for the iPhone version differently from the standard ones to help optimize camera images for the iPhone.


Reference: iPhone 3G does not have auto-focus and can only read 2D barcodes of 0.80 mm/module or above. But with the help of the regular Q+, it is able to read barcodes at 0.40 mm/module.
